Description:

McCloud Lake is an absolute gem for the backcountry enthusiast. With its isolated location and featuring many bays and peninsulas to explore, this lake is sure to give you the true wilderness experience. The portage heads off north of the road through a recently logged block. The trail is marked with orange ribbon and goes for approx 370m.

There is a small rustic camping site towards the north end of the lake. This site is not maintained and has some dead pine-beetle trees in it. If you decide to use it, use caution, but also help out by clearing out debris to improve the site.

NOTICE: 2024 update: The portage has been re-established, brushed out, heavily ribboned and a new trailhead sign was installed August 2024

The Gordeau Lake portage head off South of the road near the bridge. This portage is relatively easy and short, about 80m but is heavily brushed in an inundated with blowdown.

There are no directional signs along the way use your map and GPS.
